Draper, UT

The city of Draper, UT is located roughly halfway between Salt Lake City and Provo, spanning both Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Draper covers a land area of 30 square miles, housing a population of about 45,000 people.

Draper was settled in 1849 and incorporated more than a century later in 1978. The first post office was established in 1854 as Draperville, named for the first presiding elder of the town’s Mormon congregation. The name was later shortened to Draper.

Traverse Ridge is located in Draper, a popular spot for hang gliding. In 2004, Draper citizens voted for a tax increase to preserve the area of Corner Canyon for the future enjoyment of all Salt Lake Valley residents. The Utah Department of Corrections has its headquarters in Draper, while eBay is another of the city’s top employers.
